HVAC Service FAQs

What is the average cost to replace a home air conditioning unit in Atlanta?

The average cost to install or replace a home air conditioning system in the Atlanta, GA area is around $7,500. The typical range is from $6,500 - $12,500 because the price is determined by a number of factors, including the square footage of your home and SEER rating needed for your specific home. The make, model, size and efficiency rating of the unit chosen are also factors. Last but certainly not least, the brand of the HVAC unit and any extras, including zoning, smart thermostat, etc. have to be factored in.

How much does residential AC repair service cost in Atlanta?

On average, central air conditioning repairs in the Atlanta, GA area cost about $750. The low end could be as little as $150 for a thermostat fix and could go as high as $2,500 for something more complex. How much you should pay for a home AC repair depends almost entirely on what needs to be fixed. A simple fan fix will cost much less than a compressor repair, for instance. A professional HVAC technician will be able to provide you with a more accurate estimate and pricing.

What are the most common problems with residential AC units in Atlanta?

Lack of regular maintenance causes more problems associated with home air conditioning systems in Atlanta than anything else. Another common issue is refrigerant leaks, which can cause the unit to lose its cooling power. Other problems can include electrical issues such as faulty wiring or a malfunctioning thermostat, which can prevent the unit from turning on or properly regulating the temperature. You can avoid most AC problems with regular and seasonal HVAC maintenance because this will address any issues, as soon as they arise, to keep your AC unit running efficiently and avoid costly repairs.

Is it worth fixing a 20-year-old AC unit near Atlanta?

It depends on the specific issues with the unit and the overall condition of the AC unit. Generally, if a 20-year-old AC unit is experiencing major problems such as compressor failure or refrigerant leaks, it may be more cost-effective to replace the unit rather than investing in costly repairs over time. Older units are not as energy-efficient as newer HVAC models, meaning that it costs you more to run the unit. Check your energy bills monthly and ask for advice on the most cost-effective and energy-efficient solution. This will help you determine whether to repair or replace your AC unit.

Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling my Atlanta area home?

The #1 reason your AC unit is not cooling your Atlanta area home is your air filters are dirty. Clogged air filters can restrict airflow, reducing your unit's ability to cool the air in your home. Some other reasons could include low refrigerant which won’t allow the air to cool properly. A malfunctioning thermostat can prevent your AC unit from turning on or regulating the temperature properly. Blocked or dirty condenser coils on the outside unit can become dirty, reducing its ability to dissipate heat. One last thing to check would be a clogged drain line. Your AC drain line can get clogged with mold, mildew, and debris, preventing the unit from properly draining the condensation, which causes the evaporator coil to freeze up and not cool properly.

Homeowners in the Atlanta area often face plumbing problems, even when their homes are relatively new that includes faucet leaks or clogged drains, burst pipe, backed-up sewer lines, or leaking water heater tank that can happen at any time without warning and may require professional help to fix them quickly before they cause more damage than good. Count on TE Certified for plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance services in the Atlanta Area.

Tankless Water Heater Repair & Installation Services

Tankless hot water heaters are a great choice for those who live in tight spaces, such as smaller kitchen or bathroom enclosures.

Compared to tank water heaters, tankless water heater systems offer higher efficiency, lower energy bills, endless hot water, extra space in your home (they don't take up as much space as a tank) and usually longer lifespans (15+ years compared to 10-12 years). In order to save money and energy, a tankless water heater system is the perfect choice.

The installation of this type is much simpler than traditional tanks because there's no need to install plumbing pipes under your sink! TE Certified can help you decide what size would work best with the available room space and power supply near where it'll be installed. Whether indoors near an electric outlet on wall socket/surfaces close enough so that electrical circuits won't become crossed during use, or outside we'll show you the options that you have.

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority, and we want to do everything we can to ensure you and your family stay comfortable all year round.

Call for easy scheduling.

Plumbing FAQs

How do I know if I have a water leak in my Atlanta area home?

If you know where your main water supply is located, turn if off and check the meter. If it is still changing, you know the leak is between your house and outside meter. If there are none inside (and this might seem obvious), then it's likely coming from somewhere else close by - like at least one other faucet or pipe nearby!

A leak is sometimes very obvious; other times you could have a leak for months and not know it. There are a few things to look out for if you suspect a leak in your Atlanta area home:

  • Look at your water bill to see if your usage has gone up with no apparent reason.
  • Any musty smells could indicate a leak that has led to mold/mildew.
  • Any signs of wall, ceiling or floor damage, including stains, warping or bubbling.

Professional plumbers can do a thorough inspection of your home and grounds to determine if you have a water leak.

I returned to Mark’s house to replace the blower motor and the circuit board on the main system of necessary. During the repair we discovered the board was working properly and didn’t need replacing, once I replaced the blower I started testing the system and discovered the airflow was high and the refrigerant was low. I adjusted the airflow to be proper and added refrigerant with Mark’s permission. On the basement system I didn’t discover any issues after I adjusted the airflow but there was water in the pan which was likely coming from the drain line as it was barely inside the condensate pump and spilling lightly over the side into the pan. I adjusted the drain line so it was solidly inside the pump to prevent any more spillage.

Kitchen Faucet leaked last night and down into the cabinet below. Customer was able to tighten up the bonnet nut for the fixture. It was not leaking when we tested. The thermal expansion tank air bladder had ruptured due to age. This caused the tub/ shower valve on the main floor to drip due to excessive pressure when the water heater was heating. We removed the handle for the kitchen faucet and tightened up the bonnet nut that holds the cartridge. The shower cartridge was replaced along with the thermal expansion tank. The new thermal expansion tank was mounted to the heater per new code guidelines. We also added in a new whole house shut off valve in a more accessible area. The plumbing system was pressurized and checked for proper operation. The piping in the garage was insulated. Water pressure was safely at 60psi.

My tech treated me with professionalism, kindness, and understanding. He was technically knowledgeable and resolved my issue quickly and took care of my property. I could not have asked for a better interaction. I am 64 years old and I have seen all kinds of service people come and go. This guy was definitely at the top of the list. My only negative comment would be that he has not been issued business cards. That’s how I keep up with calling people for future business. Please issue everyone business cards. Other than that the entire job was absolutely perfect!!

We have been customers of TE Certified Electric for approximately 15 years. Our L2 service upgrade included a new panel, new meter, new grounding system, new breakers, new service entry wire, and new power connection. We also replaced our garage lighting timer, upgrading to a remote control hub, and we upgraded existing light fixtures to LED. Our lead electrician, Wilson, quickly and accurately coordinated Georgia Power shut off and hook up, City of Atlanta permitting and inspection, and all the equipment and supplies required. This requires a high level of focus and efficiency. In addition to these skills, Wilson is professional, punctual, and a very proficient electrician. It is important to us to have tasks completed to a high standard, meeting our expectations, and achieving all desired results. Wilson and Michael delivered!
